Split into quarters, we each took our corners
We sneered at each other
Days will count down to the end
For all that I have tried
None of you I could rely
We couldn’t see eye to eye
So why should I try?
So, I had to leave
There’s nothing left for me
Well, damn, we had a good thing
But now it’s gone again
So, we were split into quarters
And we each took our corners
Until the end, my friend
This time I’m leaving again
Life is good
Exclamation point
Smiley face
L-M-A-O
Have you heard of black midi
I don’t believe so
After listening to Jerskin Fendrix, I’ll feel better
I open my Instagram and change my bio to indicate that I’m a Pisces and I’m Jewish
I mention that I’m a mediocre guitar player
I mention my graduating secondary school class
She checks her phone and messages me back with a message telling me she likes me back
My have I never felt more okay in my life
Satellites are coming from the ceiling
I bet you want to feel the real thing
Debris in space
Climate’s getting warmer
Say shit about the people you don’t like
The world keeps dying
No quiero morir, por favor
Por favor no destruyas mi nombre, mi amor
There’s nothing else that is here
Oh, it’s so a shame to know there’s nothing else
Still, we know that we will grow
We’re authors of our own story
What to find? We threw it in the sky
Still, we wait for another light
We will find somewhere else to live
And we keep working on ourselves
Up until we die

And we've reached the end of the Painting Trilogy! In the Nebulous Ocean in the Sky leans further into Slowcore than Shoegaze compared to the other albums, but Shoegaze influences are still there. This album also is the first time the band used an effects pedal through the piano to make it sound even weirder. With nine songs, it has the longest tracklist of the trilogy, (but the longest length goes to Spirits in the Celestial Plane,) bringing the total trilogy to twenty-four songs.
Rafe's Note: I am really, really proud of this album. I noticed that my usage of the harmonica was getting a little overbearing in my opinion, so I swapped it out for using the piano instead. I had a thought outside one day that we could possibly plug it into my multi-effects pedal and experiment with our sound even more. And I was right!
I was finally able to write another song in Russian called Земля Звезд, or Land of Stars. This song is very depressing, and is about someone who's lost in their thoughts, losing their sense of belonging, and being scared about not feeling like they belong where they are.
Split Into Quarters, We Each Chose Our Corners was a song title that came to me while I was outside one night, suffering from insomnia, and listening to Master Boot Record. I don't know exactly how it came to mind. I think I was randomly thinking about King Gizzard's album Quarters!, and then the song title came to mind. Don't know how King Gizzard and Master Boot Record can connect in my head like that, but they did. Now, Quarters/Corners as I'll refer to it now, is one of my favorites in the trilogy. I feel like we were able to succeed at doing Slowcore with this song. Quarters/Corners, This Song Wasn't Good Enough to be Put on Aleatoric Volume Four, and Space Shuttle feel like a song Duster would have made, and they were a big influence toward the Trilogy. Also, "This Song Wasn't Good Enough to be Put on Aleatoric Volume Four" was a joke name, but we used it as the title. It also has a humorous intro.
Ocean in the Sky pt 1 & 2 was a pretty fun experiment. It was a six minute recording split into two. The first half being lyrical, with the second half being instrumental. It was also in 10/8, or 5/4, however you want to put it.
End of the Journey was almost the closer. It's the most explosive and energetic song on the album. I got to go back to the style of As the Furies Charge, letting my voice go all out. (My voice cracks at a point, whoops.)
Authors of Our Own Story was chose as the closer both thematically, and sonically. Mostly on the latter. The first album had an ethereal and intense closer. The second album had an aggressive and energetic closer. This album's ending is pretty and atmosheric. I tried what I could to transcribe Authors of Our Own Story. It's not accurate, but I settled with what I could discern. If anything, at least I can use those lyrics as a guideline if we do ever play it live. Authors of Our Own Story is such a beautiful song despite the hard to hear vocals. Borderline Sigur Rós in the best way. And also, I am so proud of the melody line I conjured up for this song with the piano.
We actually accidentally made an extra song that couldn't be put on the album, or else it would be fifty minutes long, which we could not do. It was an instrumental song, because this album was originally supposed to have three, because the first one had one and the second one had two. In the end, I think we made the right choice to leave it off. We'll find another home for it.
Also, during the cycle of making this album, the pipes at my house went out. We are in the process of replacing them right now. We can't use any of the drains, meaning we can't shower, clean dishes (except outside because we can use the hose), or use the bathroom. We do have a portapotty out in the backyard. And I also have wisdom teeth removal surgery in less than two days. Amazing.
I want to thank Wilbur, my friends and family, Will's friends and family, Duster, American Football, Mike Kinsella, Master Boot Record, R.E.M., Sigur Rós, Beach House, GY!BE, King Gizzard, Blondie, and everyone that has stuck around. This month is going to suck (for me) but I'll get through it

Will’s Note:
“Here it is, the final curtain call, a gesture of gratitude and ego.”
-Curtain Call by Owen, from the album ‘New Leaves,’ released in 2009 under Polyvinyl Records.
Well, here it is. The final album of the Painting Trilogy. To say the least, this project has been really fun to experiment on. I wanna say that I’ve truly found my sound as an electric guitarist. I don’t think that there’s been a single bad song made in this trilogy. This album’s easily the darkest on my part, mostly due to some just weird imagery. The song I’m most proud of easily has to be (the title of the one with the 5/4 drum beat, i forgot) as it probably contains one of the most difficult yet cool guitar parts I’ve ever written. Playing the part itself isn’t difficult, but keeping it consistent is really hard. Ultimately, though, I think the song turned out fantastic. Rafe and I both really enjoy how this trilogy came out. I hope it finds you well.

I Remember 2006 is a previously solo Indie Folk Rock project of Rafe LaNore, that now consists of Rafe and his friend,
Wilbur Bullara. Both are multi-instrumentalists that met back in 2021, and have been making music with each other ever since.
I adore King Gizzard. They are one of my biggest influences. The band is a big reason I delved deeper into writing (more) lore for IR06. And this album is important to the Gizzverse.

I don’t even know what to say about this album. It’s one of the best pieces that exist. This is a seven hour drone album that I’m very influenced by. You must listen if you have the time.
-W. Bullara I Remember 2006
An emotional and existential masterpiece. This album means a lot to us. SWANS is our biggest influence as a duo. They mean a lot to us, and this album is an important to both of us
