Spirits in the Celestial Plane is the first of a trilogy of albums for I Remember 2006 that explores a shoegaze/slowcore genre. At forty-six minutes, it's the shortest IR06 album that the bandmates have made.



Rafe's Note: This album was made to be a short one (for us), but in doing so, it ended up feeling compact, and we plan to make this another trilogy, like the Friendship trilogy, or the Drawn Covers Trilogy, where we get to explore this shoegaze and slowcore sound. Every album in this trilogy I plan to be around the same length. No album in this trilogy do I want to go over fifty minutes.

For me, the biggest influence towards me working on this album was Beach House. I'm still on that Beach House kick, and also a recent Wye Oak kick. The decision to have this be the start of a new trilogy is because I believe we still have more we can do with this sound. I also have other ideas planned for it.

I would like to thank Will and his family, my friends and family, Beach House, and everyone who's stuck around. The last week has been pretty alright. It's time to ride this trilogy.

Will’s Note: Personally, I was heavily inspired by Duster and Slint while making this album. I had a lot of fun making this album, we used a drum looper, which is very new for us.

I wrote a track on this album that’s very personal to me. I was very inspired by Good Morning, Captain by Slint while recording it. At the end I kinda just lost it. I don’t really wanna talk about what the song’s about, it’s up for interpretation.
