87th Street 10:18
I remember while on 87 Walking through that neighborhood You said something about how you grew up there Several branching cul-de-sacs I feel my head racing Thinking of all the different paths I ask you why you brought me here And you replied "Don't you see all that farmland to the side?" "Look down Lodgebush, then you'll see Something that I left for thee." You giggled, but I didn't find it funny You led me over to a plot of sand Then handed me a shovel to dig a hole And about three feet deep into the ground I uncovered a wooden box with a lock You told me to put the box on the ground And then took the shovel from my hand And smashed open the box with the spade end And then pulled out a book of some kind "You see, I know what they're looking for," You whispered as you handed me that book I sifted though the pages and saw sigils throughout You leaned in close and told me "These symbols are powerful And I can't trust myself with them anymore." "I think that they've been onto me. You know how they brought back Hadriel. These ancient sigils are what Kezef is after. I doubt that they know of you So hide this book somewhere You know that they won't find." "Now go!" You told me. "Now run!" "I don't think I can't hold back anymore. "They have to be on me! I can't let them see you too And I know you're probably confused Look, I was confused too when my parents told me I have faith in you. You're more clever than me I know you'll figure out what to do." You said nothing else As you sent me on my way With a book in my hand That I have to hide I watch as you ran down a different road I had no other choice But to get out of that town And find a place to secure this book

There’s something in the wall When you head to it You hear something moving and crying You freak out thinking something’s after you But it’s not; it’s calling for you to help And it’s been there for a few days now You can hear it clawing out of desperation now And now you know it’s time to make a hole in the wall In between the pillars of the closet And you see a bird staring at you (?) You made a hole in the closet And it flies into the room And you open the window so it flies to the light Free from the wall And free to fly

You kept on going somewhere else And everybody knew you were heading out Never told a damn thing to anyone And you walked right out of the town again And I was wondering wherever you had gone ‘Fore you left and now you say “I’m never coming back” For all that we never knew Maybe you went to a different country And everybody’s wondering where you had gone You have nowhere left to be And everything you had told to me Everything you had revealed to me Never was a thing that I could understand Never will understand And everything that you wanted to be Never comes to fruition, never, never It always fell in front of your face And it never made sense in the days And I am trying to tell you that there is nothing left in the world And there is no one left When everything goes down in the months that past And everything that went passed Everything that passed us by Do you really understand a single thing All of us told to you?

about

The second entry of The Painting Trilogy is here! Continuing a story from the first album, as well as other lore important stories, and also autobiographical songs, this compact 43-minute album. The album continues more of the slowcore/shoegaze sounds from the previous entry. It has also become the duo's shortest IR06 album.

Rafe's Note: This was a really fun album for us to record. It took us longer than the previous album. It was done in two sessions throughout the month of September. We decided to livestream us finishing up the last three songs we needed to record, which were tracks four through six, as well as three other ones we plan to out on Aleatoric Volume Four, whenever the hell that gets done.

Speaking of which, the last two songs were actually recorded by myself in a camper with the intent to put them on Aleatoric Volume Four, but we felt like they both could fit on the album. Wilbur recorded a guitar part for Leaving the Country, and reversed the recording and produced the final cut of that track. A Beautiful Villa is the only solo track here, and was a last minute addition. I would not have put it on the album if it didn't fit, but it did, and we think it's a nice addition to the album. If it didn't fit, I was completely content with putting on Entry Three.

We've noticed that harmonica has recently became my main instrument. It'll likely start being used less once the trilogy is done, but it definitely is my main instrument for The Painting Trilogy. I've been inspired by Blues Rock music lately, and have been listening to a lot of The Doors. Albeit for a different band, I've been thinking of delving into more Blues Rock. Or band with another member, A Case of Primordials, already has a Blues Rock edge, but I'm planning to lean more into it for the next album of that band. There might be some Blues Rock tracks for I Remember 2006 in the future, who knows. I feel like the Blues have been secretly influencing me throughout this trilogy.

The Painting Trilogy should be concluded sometime in October. At least that's our plan. I also want to try writing another song in Russian that we can put on that album. We'll see how that goes in due time.

I would like to thank Wilbur, his family, my family and friends, King Gizzard, GY!BE, Beach House, Slint, Duster, Blondie, The Doors, The Black Keys, and any other band we've been listening to, as well as people who have stuck around. Let's see where this trilogy ends, when it ends.

Will’s Note:

Hello, I hope this release finds you well. A lot has happened lately. Marching band started, and I’ve just been feeling better lately. Anyways, this album is a sequel to Spirits in the Celestial Plane. It has a similar sound, but with slightly more experimentation. I like the way the songs turned out, and the album even contains the best track we made that we weren’t doing a session for. I think the layering is clean especially since they’re two different recordings. I hope you enjoy the listen.

I’d like to thank Rafe, my grandparents, my sister, and anyone who cares to listen. Thank you all.

Godspeed,

-Wilbur Bullara
