Standing on the dock at St. Joseph Look out to the lake's horizon You tell me that you never been here before I see your awe as you look at the ice "How is it reaching the top of the lighthouse?!" I hear you exclaim, pointing a finger upward To where the light would be shining If this lighthouse could talk It would describe horrible things The frigid seasons keep coming And the icy waves keep crashing Crystalline formations Snuffing out its light You haven't been here before You don't know what to expect The lake has frozen over And has claimed St. Joseph yet again This is the cycle that repeat Every year and again Trapped in a prison of ice For months on end If this lighthouse could talk It would describe horrible things The frigid seasons keep coming And the icy waves keep crashing Crystalline formations Snuffing out its light "We should head back," you said. It's time to head back

I can't help but feel That we're forever trapped here In the Jovian System It might be beautiful here But what's the point of it If we can't get off this moon I've walked all around This moon's surface What else is there to see No matter what they say It always feels the same The moon is a prison Sjáumst hér að neðan <See you below> Berðu bardaga þína <Fight your battles> Og þegar þú ert laus <And when your free> Komdu aftur til mín <Come back to me> Born in the region of Asgard Callisto is all I've known With all the struggles Of the communities There was a time When my family was struggling To support us living But it seems as of recently Things seem to be turning around But no matter what they say It always feels the same The moon is a prison Sjáumst hér að neðan <See you below> Berðu bardaga þína <Fight your battles> Og þegar þú ert laus <And when your free> Komdu aftur til mín <Come back to me> Skilaboð frá Valhöll <A message from Valhalla> Ég er að bíða eftir þér <I'm waiting for you> Komdu aftur til mín <Come back to me> Þegar þú ert tilbúinn <When you're ready> Maybe it's just from feelings of disposition But I really wish I could be somewhere else Even if it's only just for a week or so I want to experience a different place Sjáumst hér að neðan <See you below> Berðu bardaga þína <Fight your battles> Og þegar þú ert laus <And when your free> Komdu aftur til mín <Come back to me> Komdu aftur til mín <Come back to me> Þegar þú ert tilbúinn <When you're ready> Komdu aftur til mín <Come back to me> Þegar þú ert tilbúinn <When you're ready>

Part One: Unforeseen Changes (Two minute intro) I keep on thinking about the years that went That turned me into something else (?) (?) And everywhere I look in my dreams It changes as time goes It's not my fault at all And everybody tells me That something's going to change For you to be knowing And I feel left behind all the time Part Two: Into the Visions of the Apocalypse (Instrumental [guitar, perc]) Part Three: A Need for Some Serenity (Instrumental [Glockenspiel, Perc, Electric]) Part Four: Dreams of the Ends And so, I count the day Since the last time Mania seemed to take over I'm so afraid of the future Every time I think about it I recoil back into my pillow I have these visions every time I sleep About the future And it makes me feel like I'm the brink of something And then I wake up There's always a vision of some apocalypse Every few nights, and some in a row And what the hell do they mean? And what are they trying to warn me? And if you are warning me of something Why can't you just be open about what it is? And so, I keep on writing 'em down Or saying them into my log It's been going on for almost four years now And no matter what I do These visions of the end of the world keep coming around Is it come from the fear of the future? It has to come from the fear of the future I'm scared of the future [insert that there is a call back to Anxiety musically here] Part Five: Just Breathe Now (Instrumental [Acoustic, Glockenspiel,]) Part Six: In the Face of the Future And so then I stared out into the shore I can only hope that my future is something more And every time I look out to see But I can never see across the lake And every time that I look out there I can only see the ships on the horizon Every time (?) Time marches by And I realize that it's been going on for a while That I can't recognize all the sounds And every time I look out It all keeps changes and my heart keeps going One day I will know What to be, what to show But when that comes, what will I be? Every time I go to bed and I see myself in the future And when my eyes lay on it I recoil in fear What do I do in the face of a future That I'm in no way a part of? Part Seven: In Some Form of Peace (Instrumental [Perc, Piano, Glockenspiel]) Part Eight: Dream/Reality And I wake up inside a dream Just to wake up inside another dream I don't know if this is reality Is this a dream or reality? Is this a dream or reality? Is this a dream or reality? And any time I wake up I wonder if I'm stuck in a dream It always feels like it's real life And I wake up again Is this a dream or reality? Is this a dream or reality? Is this a dream or reality? Is this a dream or reality? Is this a dream or reality? Is this a dream or reality? Is this a dream or reality? Is this a dream or reality? Is this a dream or reality? Is this a dream or reality? Part Nine: Losing Grip of Reality (starts with Wilbur screaming) (Instrumental [Electric Guitar, Percussion Part Ten: Waves And so, I look out into the shore For all my thoughts flowed away And the waves... They're waves You can't do anything You can't do anything You can't do anything They're waves You can't do anything You can't do anything You can't do anything They're waves You can't do anything You can't do anything You can't do anything They're waves You can't do anything You can't do anything You can't do anything They're waves You can't do anything You can't do anything You can't do anything They're waves You can't do anything You can't do anything You can't do anything They're waves You can't do anything You can't do anything You can't do anything (aaaa) They're waves You can't do anything You can't do anything You can't do anything Thoughts are like waves You can't do anything You can't do anything You can't do anything Thoughts are like waves You can't do anything You can't do anything You can't do anything (You can't do anything) (You can't do anything) (You can't do anything) They're waves You can't do anything (You can't do anything) They're waves You can't do anything (You can't do anything) They're waves You can't do anything (You can't do anything) They're waves You can't do anything (You can't do anything) They're waves You can't do anything (You can't do anything) They're waves You can't do anything (You can't do anything) They're waves You can't do anything (You can't do anything) They're waves You can't do anything (You can't do anything) They're waves You can't do anything (You can't do anything) They're waves You can't do anything (You can't do anything) They're waves You can't do anything (You can't do anything) They're waves You can't do anything (You can't do anything)

I love time Before dawn It's quiet and peaceful here And I feel calm Will you join me? To look at the stars And watch the moon go down And watch the sun rise Music is playing from my radio Feeling the cold air at night The sky above your head changes saturation Very slowly from darkness to light Will you join me? To look at the stars And watch the moon go down And watch the sun rise

The crackling stops Dust is in the air Everywhere I see Something weird comes to me Read all the labels One more time again Next could be the last Time it ever plays Last time it runs the dents Last time it reads the grooves I put the cover down And get up off my bed Walk up to the desk Where the space a chair Would be parked under But underneath’s a box With covers lined next to each other Still space for more And I extend my arm To reach for a disk And flip to the other side Then move the needle on it Audio comes into existence The colors spin around This blue marbled… This brown marbled… This red… etched and not This silver or clear… This black shellac record Or standard that it seems Showing off a movie in my mind Until the end of the album comes in time.

about

Era Ten is here with a two hour long, ten track album called Limits of Communication. Limits of Communication is the band's most experimental album yet, utilizing four different languages, included one constructed by the front man, Rafe, known as Olentecese. (See track four, "Elt ter Eslontá"). It also uses field recordings for many of the songs. The band worked on this album all throughout November 2023. Limits of Communication explores the concepts of communication with the use of several languages, radio recordings, voicemails, as well as themes of changes, dreams, and the fear of the future.

Rafe's Note: We went into making this album something special (for us). We decided for this album to not wear our influences on our sleeves. We wanted to make an album that is undoubtedly us. This album has Folk, Folk Rock, Progressive Rock, Progressive Metal, Post Rock, Post Metal, Math Rock, and Drone. We also took to using a lot, and I mean a lot, of field recordings and samples. We sampled audio I took of me at Mona Lake, as well as audio from the recordings of "The Fog Makes the World Look Otherworldly" music video. We sampled voicemails we both had. One of those voicemails was from my father, Chip, of who is on the album cover holding a wreath of sticks he found at Pere Marquette Lake. We also took a lot of shortwave and AM radio recording. Not all of the were used, but the ones that were used I feel worked. I also constructed a lot of hidden messages for a certain song that you can decode yourself if you want. (You'll have to find the right programs to do so, though). And on top of that, I was able to sample a record of mine for one of the songs.

Life has been a bit hectic for me this month. I recently turned twenty as of the seventh. I learned of the loss of a very important person in my life; Johnny Mitchell. He was a very well known Muskegon figure, and was a musician. I met him a few times. He was a family friend. He's the reason I got confident in making music. He gave me confidence. He was in his eighties, I believe. I remember him being a really chipper and hilarious guy. It hurts knowing he's gone. Rest in peace, Johnny.

This album was a lot of fun to do. We've made the weirdest album we ever had thus far with this one.

I would like to thank Wilbur, his family, Chip, Tatters, James, Johnny Mitchell, my family and friends, label buddies, and everyone who has stuck around.

-Rafe (RonZak) LaNore

Will’s Note:

Hello.

A lot has happened lately, my friends. I went to Nashville recently, which gave me some ideas for new material. I got COVID again during that trip, which was horrible, but I’m alive, haha.

This album was a blast to record and produce, especially since we said fuck wearing our influences on our sleeves, and we just did us. It feels great to be back in the swing of things. A lot of drawn out jams lately, but that’s what I’m all about. I love this album. It’s great.

I’d like to thank Rafe, my grandparents, EmmaLeigh, my sister, Brock, Rachel, Lee, CJ, my therapist, Bradley and Jera Saniga + the rest of the Leffring/Saniga family, Pastor Bryce, Tom, Aunt Rita, Cousins Tami and Dave, Jaxon, Jadin, Lyric, Dave Bryant, Moya, Efrim Manuel Menuck, Sophie Trudeau, Aidan Girt, Bruce Cawdron, Flüffy Erskine, Thierry Amar, Norsola Johnson, Thea Pratt, Mauro Pezzente, Britt Walford, Brian McMahan, Todd Brashear, Dave Pajo, Ethan Buckler, Isaac Wood, Jerskin Fendrix, Geordie Greep, Cameron Picton, Matt Kelvin, Morgan Simpson, Lewis Evans, May Kershaw, Tyler Hyde, Luke Mark, Charlie Wayne, Georgia Ellery/Jockstrap, Mike Kinsella, Tim Kinsella, Steve Lamos, Steve Holmes, Our Friend The Sun, Ian Hawgood, Steve Reich, Clay and Erica Parton, C. Dove Amber, Steve Albini, anyone else I might’ve missed, and you, the listener. Thank you for being here and giving us the light of day.

Godspeed,

xoxoxo

-Will
